Executive Profiles
Ted Morton

Chief Executive Officer


Ted Morton serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Sizzling Platter. His duties include overall responsibility for the company's management, operations, and investing.  Mr. Morton has served as a member of the Little Caesars President's Council, and is currently serving on the Little Caesars Central Zone Council and the Little Caesars Purchasing Committee. Mr. Morton also serves as a Trustee of the National Sizzler Franchise Association.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Morton served as Vice President of Operations, Operations Manager for Sizzler in Washington State.

Mr. Morton is an avid boater and outdoorsman. In the dark hours of the night you may find him in his home recording studio playing piano.


Mitch Lowe

President


Mitch Lowe joined Sizzling Platter in May 2006 as General Counsel and became the Vice President of Development in 2008.  He was later promoted to President in 2015. Prior to joining Sizzling Platter, Mr. Lowe was a Litigation Associate in the San Francisco office of the international law firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.   Mr. Lowe obtained his Bachelors of Science in Business-Economics from the University of San Diego in 2000, where he was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient. He received his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2003, where he was a Senior Member of the University of San Francisco Law Review.  

In 2010, Mr. Lowe was awarded the American Corporate Counsel In-House Counsel of the Year Award for the Mountain West Region and was named the 2013 Dunkin' Donuts Developer of the Year.

In his spare time Mr. Lowe enjoys fly-fishing with his family and friends, travel and running.


Emanuel "Manny" Hilario

Chief Financial Officer


Manny Hilario joined Sizzling Platter in February 2015 as Chief Financial Officer. Before joining Sizzling Platter, Mr. Hilario served in several executive positions in the restaurant industry, most recently as Chief Operations Officer for Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, Inc. He previously has served as Chief Financial Officer for Einstein Noah Restaurant Group, Inc., McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants, Inc., and Angelo and Maxie’s, Inc. (formerly known as Chart House Restaurants, Inc.).

Mr. Hilario began his career at McDonald’s in restaurant operations, as a crew member. He eventually held leadership roles at high volume restaurants including a stop at the iconic Rock and Roll McDonald’s in downtown Chicago, IL, which continues to be one of the highest volume McDonald’s in the world. He later held various financial roles in both domestic and international accounting and finance teams for McDonald’s Corporation.

He founded Blame It on the Chef, LLC a restaurant development company, as well as Koios Path, LLC, a hospitality consultancy company, both based in Oregon. Mr. Hilario received his Bachelor of Science and Commerce degree from Santa Clara University.

Emanuel and his wife are the proud parents of three daughters. The Hilario Family, among other interests, enjoys river rafting, basketball, football (Go Irish!) and soccer.


David Hall

Vice President of Finance


David Hall has been with Sizzling Platter since 1982 and currently serves as Vice President of Finance.  Prior to his current position, he served as Controller, Accounting Manager, and General Manager of one of our Sizzler restaurants. 

Mr. Hall holds a B.S. in Accounting and a B.S. in Management from Weber State University. 

In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife and kids (five plus three grandchildren), as well as golfing and hunting.


Mark Howe

Vice President of Operations


Mark Howe is Vice President of Operations and currently oversees operations for all of the Sizzling Platter brands.  Mr. Howe has been with Sizzling Platter since 1977.  His experience began as a team member, which included positions as General Manager, District Manager in several of our brands and most recently, Vice President of Operations.  Mr. Howe is a native of Northern Utah and graduated from Weber State University.  

In his free time Mark enjoys time with his family, vintage car restoration, boating and golfing.


Nathan Garn

General Counsel & Vice President of Development


Nathan Garn joined Sizzling Platter in December 2012.  Prior to joining Sizzling Platter, Mr. Garn was a partner and co-founder in the boutique real estate law firm of Lieberg, Oberhansley, Strohmeyer and Garn.  While in private practice, he focused his practice area in business and real estate transactions and land use matters in southern California.  

Mr. Garn obtained his Bachelors of Science in Economics from Brigham Young University in 2001 and his J.D. from the California Western School of Law in 2005, where he attended on the Trustee’s scholarship, graduated cum laude and was an editor of the Law Review.

In his spare time Mr. Garn enjoys exercise, various outdoor activities, college football and being his kids’ coach and greatest fan.


Isaac Morton

Vice President of Information Technology


Isaac Morton joined Sizzling Platter in 2009 as the technology operations manager. Prior, he was the systems engineer for One Great Family, a genealogy startup in Utah, and then moved on to become a Senior Engineer for Prosper Learning, a sales company focused on e-learning before joining the Sizzling Platter team.

As Vice President of Information Technology, Isaac directs all systems integration, compliance,  connectivity, and tech ops support for the 5 brands, including organic growth and acquisitions. In addition to these areas, Isaac oversees the development team and the company’s software development initiatives. 

In his spare time, Isaac enjoys spending time with his family and playing music. 


Kris Cox

Corporate Controller 


Kristopher Cox joined Sizzling Platter in 2015 and serves as the Corporate Controller. Prior to joining the team, he was a partner at a public accounting firm. He has worked in public accounting since graduating in 2002.  

Kris has a Master’s Degree in Accounting from Southern Utah University, a B.S. in Business Administration from the College of Idaho, and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Outside the office he loves spending time with his wife, six daughters and one son in the outdoors, having movie nights, and attending dance recitals. He is very involved in his community and church and also enjoys playing sports.


Marta Horton

Deputy General Counsel


Marta Horton joined Sizzling Platter in 2014.  Marta has law degrees both in the United States and Mexico and has played a key role in our quick development in both countries.  Prior to joining our team, Marta was a trial attorney in a litigation firm in Denver, Colorado, where her practice focused on commercial and employment litigation.  

Marta obtained her first law degree in 1998 from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico.  After practicing in Mexico, Marta moved to Denver, Colorado, where she obtained a Master of Arts in International Business from the University of Denver (2002).  She received her J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School in 2008.  

In her spare time, Marta enjoys exploring Utah’s great outdoors and spending time with her son.

Jonathan K. Shulkin

Chairman

Managing Director, Chief Financial Officer & Chief Compliance officer, Valor Equity Partners


Jonathan K. Shulkin has served on Sizzling Platter's Board of Directors since 2006 and served as Chairman of the company since 2013. Mr. Shulkin has served as a Managing Director at Valor Equity Partners since 2002. Mr. Shulkin holds a BBA in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with honors.

Antonio J. Gracias

Board Member

Chief Executive Officer & Chief Investment Officer, Valor Equity Partners


Antonio J. Gracias has served on Sizzling Platter’s Board of Directors since 2006.  Mr. Gracias is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Valor Equity Partners. He holds a joint B.S. and M.S. degree in international finance and economics from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.


William M. Van Epps

Board Member

Executive Chairman at Mobivity


William has served on Sizzling Platter's Board of Directors since May of 2015.  Mr. Van Epps is a seasoned leader in the foodservice space.  He brings the experience of holding executive roles for large restaurant groups and advising numerous companies at the board level.  William excels at development of both domestic and international markets, leveraging information technology, and the implementation of marketing strategies.
