Sizzling Platter continues its 2017 success with the opening of another WingStop this year, in Richmond, VA that opened on November 15, 2017 led by General Joshua Goodwin.
Josh has been with Sizzling Platter for a few years and has been a strong member of the team. He will do a fantastic job with his new store. We asked Josh to tell us about his path to success, and here’s what he shared.
Josh, tell us about your role as a GM…Where did you first begin your leadership role? It all began for me not in leadership, but as a cook at KFC when I was 15. From there I took on a kitchen role when I was getting my bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies. I started watching one of my closest friends cook and create dishes. He saw my desire and started teaching. From there I learned that food was not just calories or things we consume. Instead it is just as much art as a painter with a paint brush or a sculptor with a lump a clay. I got my first KM position under that same man when 17 years old and haven’t looked back since. What advice would you give to aspiring leaders? If I could give any advice to aspiring leaders it would be don’t let anything hold you back from achieving greatness. Ever set back is an opportunity for an equal or greater comeback. Accountability and Follow up is key, but without proper training and development, neither of those can take affect and work. What is your favorite part of being a leader with us? This company has a sense of support that is not common in most franchises. The support that I receive is amazing. I know I can pick up the phone and call anyone and get the answer or help that I need. The potential for growth is excellent as well. By the way… what’s your favorite item on the Wingstop menu? Favorite item on the Wingstop menu would have to say that it’s LRB classic wings and a side of fries with cheese sauce and hot sauce mixed together.
Thanks Josh for all your hard work and commitment to excellence!
